Tūrama - to illuminate
This July, Auckland’s inner city is set to be transformed into an immersive art experience for Tūrama Festival - an enchanting world of light inhabiting Albert Park.
Tūrama Festival is a playground for the curious, featuring artworks created by our unique voices, ranging from performance to sculpture, imaginative illumination to interactive installation. Alongside the artworks you are invited to savour the delicious, healthy kai on offer whilst being entertained by a laid back lineup of our homegrown musical talent.
Tūrama Festival is a free-to-attend event taking place in Albert Park, 26 - 28 July 2019.
During the heart of winter Albert Park will transform into an immersive celebration of art, movement, light, and sound.
We invite artists from all cultures, communities, and mediums to contribute to this exciting programme of sensory experiences; from stories told through projection, interactive sculptures, and performances that turn movement into art.
Tūrama Festival is excited to work with both highly experienced and freshly inspired makers, and is committed to helping develop artworks alongside artists. If you’re interested in featuring work at Tūrama please submit a proposal below, or email our creative team, Nocturnal, at firstname.lastname@example.org. The Call for Proposals closes on Monday 22 April.
Food and Beverage
Tūrama Festival is a free event taking place over four nights in Albert Park. We are looking for interesting and eclectic food and beverage stalls to make up our food zone. This will be a licensed area which features the laid back sounds of our homegrown musical talent.

Refuse, Reuse, Recycle
We’re committed to doing right by our little country and the greater good of the planet. As Tūrama evolves, we’ll be developing and trialling some smart and simple ways in which we can do our part (and more) to clean up the world.
Starting with the core policy of refuse first, we’re working with industry leaders to trial the next level of reusable serveware to cut down on the amount of single-use items we use.
You too can help make a difference. Bring your keep cup, water bottle, even a plate to eat from! Let’s minimise single use together.
We want everyone to experience and enjoy our festival as much as possible. To do this we’re working with a couple of key partners, to provide access to those that need just a little bit extra.
If you would like to join one of the tours outlined below, or know someone that would, send us a message using the form below and we’ll get in touch with you.
Audio Described Aotearoa will be working alongside the Tūrama Festival team to provide a unique tour of the festival for those who are blind, have low vision, or are otherwise visually impaired. These free to attend tours will move through the park providing an audio description of the artworks and meeting with the artists behind the works.
We’re currently working on a unique tour designed for those with impaired hearing. This tour will include a guided walk through the artworks of the festival, with exclusive meet and greets with some of the artists. This tour is lead by a sign language interpreter.
Send us a message using the link below if you’d like to join one of these tours of the festival.
